Villages of Valeria: Landmarks is a full expansion for the base game that includes new Buildings and Adventurers, a new follow action to acquire Landmarks, and new hidden roles in the form of Architects. Check out the Kickstarter page!
So, what does Landmarks bring to Villages of Valeria? The primary new mechanic is a new follow opportunity called "Build A Landmark".
We heard from a lot of players, and the mechanic they like the most is being able to follow the active player's lead action. Rick and Isaias decided to amp up this mechanic by giving you another option besides just following the lead action.
With Landmarks, if you cannot or choose not to follow the lead action, you can build a landmark as your follow action. You simply discard a specific card from your hand and, based on the resource icon at the bottom of the Building card, you take a certain landmark token and place it on your castle card. For example, discard a Building card with a Food resource at the bottom to establish a Silo as a Landmark in your village.
Landmark tokens do not count as Buildings, but at the end of the game, the player with the most of each type of Landmark will earn victory points! For each set of all five different Landmarks you've collected, you'll gain even more victory points.
Architect cards are a new hidden role card that is dealt to each player at the beginning of the game. Each Architect will give you bonus victory points on specific types of Buildings that you build throughout the game.
New Buildings and Adventurers
We're adding more Buildings to give you even more special powers and new Adventurers that leverage the Landmarks to score bonus victory points.
If you pledge via the Kickstarter, you'll receive limited exclusive Landmark tokens that are custom cut and screenprinted. Back today!
